Chemical reaction systems with toric steady states.
Mass-action chemical reaction systems are frequently used in computational biology. The corresponding polynomial dynamical systems are often large (consisting of tens or even hundreds of ordinary differential equations) and poorly parameterized (due to noisy measurement data and a small number of data points and repetitions). Therefore, it is often difficult to establish the existence of (posit...
متن کاملChemical Oscillations out of Chemical Noise
The dynamics of one species chemical kinetics is studied. Chemical reactions are modelled by means of continuous time Markov processes whose probability distribution obeys a suitable master equation. A large deviation theory is formally introduced, which allows developing a Hamiltonian dynamical system able to describe the system dynamics. Using this technique we are able to show that the intri...
متن کاملStable Steady States in Stellar Dynamics
We prove the existence and nonlinear stability of steady states of the Vlasov-Poisson system in the stellar dynamics case. The steady states are obtained as minimizers of an energy-Casimir functional from which fact their dynamical stability is deduced. The analysis applies to some of the well-known polytropic steady states, but it also considerably extends the class of known steady states.
متن کاملNoise Characteristics of Molecular Oscillations in Simple Genetic Oscillatory Systems
We study the noise characteristics of stochastic oscillations in protein number dynamics of simple genetic oscillatory systems. Using the three-component negative feedback transcription regulatory system called the repressilator as a prototypical example, we quantify the degree of fluctuations in oscillation periods and amplitudes, as well as the noise propagation along the regulatory cascade i...
متن کاملNoise Perturbations of a Nonlinear System with Multiple Steady States
We examine the e ects of small white Gaussian noise perturbations on a harmonically forced Du ng oscillator. For speci c values of the parameters, the noise-free system admits two coexisting steady-state attractors. The presence of noise induces transitions from one attractor to the other, however small the noise intensity may be. As a rst step, the equation of motion is transformed into a syst...
